I've just replaced my PDC module (£15 from Ebay) and I can confirm the places that it is normally fitted. In early models (mine is a 2003) it is behind the small side panel on the RHS of the boot, but, it is well hidden! You just need to pull the trim to the left of the emergency brake that goes across the drivers door rocker panel, then there are 3 nuts that hold the emergency brake on. The wiring is faulty. The wiring that connects the sensors to the parking sensor module can become damaged over time. This can cause the sensors to malfunction or to stop working altogether.
