In early models (mine is a 2003) it is behind the small side panel on the RHS of the boot, but, it is well hidden! I looked there first of all, didn't see it and asked the Ebay Mini-breaker where

The parking aid module carries out self-check routines and when the parking aid is active, checks the parking aid sensor wiring for short or open circuits. If a concern is detected, a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored in a memory in the parking aid module and the front and rear parking aid sensors will be disabled until the DTC is cleared

You just need to pull the trim to the left of the emergency brake that goes across the drivers door rocker panel, then there are 3 nuts that hold the emergency brake on.
The wiring is faulty. The wiring that connects the sensors to the parking sensor module can become damaged over time. This can cause the sensors to malfunction or to stop working altogether. You can check the wiring for damage by visually inspecting it and by using a multimeter. The parking sensor module is faulty.
